Hey all,

Had a minor incident today where another driver sideswiped me. No major damage — only the left side mirror cap got knocked off/broken.

The mirror itself works perfectly (adjustment, folding, signals — all fine). No other damage anywhere on the car.

I do have the other driver’s info and witnesses, and it’s pretty clear I’m not at fault.

    Now trying to decide:

    • Go through their insurance
    • Or just fix it myself and move on

From what I’m seeing, the part (2022 Lexus NX, Green Pearl) is around $60–$100 OEM, maybe ~$150–$200 total installed.

    My main concern:
I’d prefer to avoid any accident/claim showing up on my vehicle history if possible.

    What would you do?

    • Worth involving insurance for something this small?
    • Any downside to just paying out of pocket and forgetting it?
    • Anyone had something similar happen?

    Appreciate the input 🙏

Minor sideswipe broke my mirror cap — worth going through insurance or just fix?

    1. What is your deductible for a claim? If you have a $250 deductible you will get nothing except for a claim on your record.

The repair shop is more likely to report repairs than any insurance company.
