Maine just passed a bill allowing plug-in solar devices (LD 1730).
The bill allows systems up to 1,200 watts to connect to standard outlets without utility approval.
Maine becomes the third U.S. state to pass this type of legislation.
Do you think plug-in solar could scale in the U.S.?

It certainly could, and I emailed my state senator and representative about it a couple weeks ago. I got a reply from one that was a stock response which suggests they’ve gotten other similar inquiries.
I know here in MA, infrastructure/delivery and electricity usage charges are separated, no reason I should not use plug in solar to reduce my electricity usage, infrastructure/delivery is still paid for.
