I’m hoping to get some advice because this situation feels really unfair.
I opened a CareCredit account at a dental office. There was no clear explanation (at least to us) about how the deferred interest works. My husband manages our bills and had been making minimum payments regularly for about a year.
Later, we realized that interest had been added retroactively and the balance wasn’t going down as expected. As soon as we figured this out, we paid off the remaining balance in full.
We then stopped autopay, assuming the account was fully settled.
About 60 days later, my credit score dropped. When we looked into it, CareCredit had reported a delinquency for about $4 in leftover interest. We never got any warning email, call, or letter before it was reported.
We contacted their customer service multiple times—no help. I also sent a dispute letter, and they responded after 2 months saying that very thing is as per agreement.
Now I’m stuck with a credit hit over $4.
What would you do in this situation?
• Try a goodwill removal again?
• Dispute with credit bureaus?
• File a CFPB complaint?
Has anyone successfully gotten something like this removed?
Any advice would really help.
