Hi everyone, I’m looking for some insight on a Bank of America credit card issue. I had a $400 credit balance on my account that sat unused for four months. On my most recent statement, that -$400 credit was adjusted as 'purchases and credits,' and my balance now shows as $0. I travelled international and couldn’t use the credit card.

I’m planning to call customer service, but has anyone experienced this before? Does BofA typically issue a refund check automatically after a few months of inactivity? Thanks!

Each bank has a dormant account policy. It varies a bit one bank to the next, so you’d have to look for the email or letter they have sent/will send. Or call like you suggest.

They likely mailed you a check, yes. Lenders don’t like to let large credits sit for months as a liability.

    3. I have not had that happen with BoA, but here’s a story that might possibly happen-

I had a $4 credit on my Discover. After a couple months of no use it disappeared. Right after I used the card again the $4 clearly came off my balance…
