im a US citizen that is a freshman in college. I am on full financial aid so i do not have any costs and do not pay any tuition or rent. i have never taken a loan out either. i only have a checking account under wells fargo that i use as my debit card.
i make about $50 an hour from my internship so roughly $36000 for the year. I keep getting denied from student cards. i've tried discover and capitol one's student cards. anyone got any idea why and what i else i can try?

You make how much doing what? That’s a lotta money in college
you’re definitely answering something wrong that’s causing a no, I’d try a different one (discover and cap1 are the same company now) and use their preapproval tool
What does the rejection letters say?
Might try going to your Wells Fargo bank and picking up a secured card from them (this will require an upfront deposit). Also, it would be worth checking your credit score just to make sure someone hasn’t stolen your identity. I had the same issue starting out. It sucks cause there aren’t any good benefits, but you just need to tough it out until you have a decent credit history.
Could also try a secured card like Chase Freedom Rise.
After being denied 2 times and not having any other credit I would wait at least 6 months before trying again. If you keep applying you’ll keep getting denied. A secured card maybe be the way to go tho at this point.
