– I am going to live in NYC

    – Here is a breakdown of my expenses per month:

    – Rent: $2300

    – Food: $200

    – Miscellaneous spending: $200

I also take around 7 flights per year, around $300 each.

    Any recommendations are appreciated!

Which credit card should I use?

Depends on if you are loyal to an airline or not. If not then CFU/CSP. Good for you if you are in in nyc and keeping expenses this low

Maybe a Visa or Mastercard credit card from the bank with your checking account.

Look for one with no annual fees so there’s no downside to keeping it for building credit.

      Does that make sense?

Capital One Savor gives 3% cashback on grocery, dining, streaming and entertainment with no AF

Amex Blue Cash Everyday is 3% cashback on grocery, online shopping and gas – upto 6k per year with no AF

    4. Just a note, I would increase your budget here. If you already have rent set at $2300 that’s pretty cheap. Make sure you include things like utilities, parking (if applicable), service fees, tipping/holiday bonus for doorman (if applicable) and more.

I also would increase your budget on food unless you’re getting meals provided at work/school. $200/month is pretty frugal.

I think free tier bilt card or a 2% catch back card would make sense.
