So I already have a JetBlue Plus Card. My wife and I love going to New York plus I have family out there. I just got an offer from Alaska that I think is hard to pass up because Alaska flies to more places from my hub (LAX). Thoughts on having both cards?

Here is the offer: “Receive a 50% flight discount code for a qualifying future flight after opening your new account.* Additionally, earn 80,000 bonus points and our $99 companion fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $4,000 or more on purchases in the first 120 days of opening your account.”

Is it sometimes worth it to have to separate airline credit cards?

Alaska points are some of the most valuable out there. Get the card and earn the bonus points. If after a year or two you don’t find yourself using the other benefits to justify the fee, you can cancel it!

    2. This might just be my personal opinion, but I think Airline cards are only ever worth it only for 1) waived checked bag fees or 2) good value off of companion passes. This is excluding, of course, the value of a welcome offer in the first year which will almost always be worth it. If you’re benefiting these perks on both the cards, then why not?

I presume the elevated offer is for the Atmos Ascent and not Summit. Both the Ascent and JetBlue Plus are relatively cheap cards, so see if you’re benefiting enough from checked bags. Of the two, my opinion is Atmos points are definitely a more interesting and usable currency in the West Coast.
