Mastercard gift card has no expiration date

My bf has a giftcard of $95 but he’s not able to access it because there is no expiration date for some stupid reason. We have a barcode, the card number, and a 3 digit pin. We can’t buy anything bc there’s no expiration date; we called one of the support numbers that’s meant for before you purchase a card and they basically told us there’s nothing they or we can do. For reference he has a google pixel and we tried using the card but it defaulted to his regular debit card. He says he has no idea when he got it or how 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
