
It feels like kinetic sand it’s so satisfying to make.
Anyway, this solves the problem of not being able to buy it in bulk because it goes hard and stale before I can use it all.
I found some unsulphured molasses for $2 at the discount grocery store and I recently got a great deal on sugar so obviously I bought 25lbs of it and here we are today.
I think I’ll keep making it as needed. Cheers!

Heads up: store that in an airtight container or it’ll turn as hard as rocks.
Molasses?!?
Get a container with a terracotta lid or piece of terracotta to keep it from getting hard
I always see pre-packaged brown sugar at the store and wonder who actually buys it like that.
I guess maybe it’s people who think there’s some secret special brown-sugar ingredient in there besides sugar and molasses.
I googled it once when I was out of brown sugar. I swear those cookies were so much better!
Just buy raw or Demerara sugar.

Store bought dark brown sugar is nothing like it used to be
If brown sugar gets hard, just pop it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. I never throw any out.
And by adjusting your ratio of molasses to sugar you can make light brown or dark brown sugar.
I thought that was soy sauce for a second instead of molasses

Been doing this and like there are no bags with tiny rocks of light brown sugar and dark brown sugar. I make my own as I need and done! I only use cane sugar for baking.
I just use regular sugar and add a teaspoon of molasses when a recipe calls for brown sugar
I fully support the spirit of this but for the time spent there are other things that are more impactful on your household budget. For example, making bread, cooking down fruit to make jam, brewing kombucha, mixing your own laundry detergent, etc.
Does it involve drinking all the waste rum that gets taken away to make molasses?
