I think everyone knows about the great benefits of AMEX Plat. is it worth keeping after retirement even though you have to pay the exorbitant annual fee?
Is it worth it to you? If you use all the credits I think so.

The credits more than pay for the annual fee in my case.

I intend to cancel upon retirement. Does not seem worth it to me.

I downgraded to the gold for a year after retirement. I push everything through AMEX, so I get tons of points, but it really wasn’t worth it with the fee. Now, I am in the middle of getting rid of the gold to have the Blue since I would rather have the 3% cash back and no annual fee.

Keep it until they charge the annual fee. Could take months or years if youre lucky

I’ve been retired 5 years and they haven’t started charging me for Platinum yet. They did start charging for Gold, Hilton Aspire, and Bonvoy Brilliant tho. I kept the Hilton and Marriott cards and pay the fee because I travel enough to use the bennies. I’ll cancel Plat when the time comes. Living overseas, the Alaska Summit card is my main card for foreign buys, and CSP for most US stores.
