If you run a crypto firm and a platform told you publicly that 80% of the audience you're paying to reach isn't even human — would you keep running ads there? Because that's exactly what's happening on Twitter right now.
Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, said it himself:
"There is no technology in the world that could ever fix the spam replies of a crypto account — because 80% of crypto is simply bots."
Then when creators complained about shrinking reach, he deleted his response and blamed the community instead.
"CT is dying from suicide, not from the algorithm."
On top of that, X is now auto-locking new crypto accounts until they verify identity. Bots flood your replies. Reach is throttled. And somehow — we're still paying for ads there.
It's time to diversify.
Facebook Real verified users. The sharpest ad targeting available.
Bluesky Fast-growing, nearly bot-free, and organic reach is wide open right now.
Mastodon Decentralised — just like crypto. Genuine communities, zero spam.
Invest in platforms that respect your community. Because X has made it pretty clear it doesn't.
Why is Crypto still pouring money into Twitter?

ngl this is why I stopped running ads on X altogether lol. ended up building my own tools to track real engagement instead of relying on platform metrics. 80% bots is honestly probably underselling it tbh
the bot problem on X is real and it hits crypto harder than most sectors. when 80% of your audience is fake, your CAC numbers are basically fiction. at this point community platforms like discord, telegram, and even bluesky give you way more genuine engagement per dollar. the only reason crypto keeps spending on X is because thats where the culture conversation happens, even if the metrics are garbage. its an awareness play not a conversion play
True, true, that’s why I’m focused on SEO and AI search, for my crypto os and portfolio tracker. I also build other products for my crypto notion niche that I will build blog posts around and try to grow organically. Socials and X is draining, never had any sales from there.
nostr is honestly really good for bitcoin maxis. im not a btc maxi but their community there is actually really active.
its unfortunate that base app/farcaster or anything else crypto native hasnt taken off.
theres no way crypto would survive on bluesky, especially the edgy side of crypto culture.
someone should make a nostr for non-btc maxis, i think thats the best path.
