I’m looking to get a secured card.. I am not very credit/banking literate or “savvy” I guess you could say, and as far as I can tell all of them are pretty much the same. I can’t discern any one of them that stands out above the others as far as benefits offered (aside from helping to build/repair credit.)

Am I completely off in that assessment? And if I am can anyone possibly recommend a few that they feel would be better to sign up for?

(Relevant info: I do not currently have any credit cards at all. I had an unsecured one when I was 18-19 y/o that I eventually defaulted on… again, stupid teenager. I’m 41 now, for reference. My current Equifax score is 536, I’m not sure about the other 2.)

    1. Public-Football-5808 on

Capital One and Discover both graduatw you to unsecured pretty quick if you’re responsible with payments, plus Discover gives cashback even on the secured version.

    2. I’d suggest to try BofA Customized Cash Rewards CC but apply for unsecured one and if they can’t approve you, usually the system would offer secure cc. And don’t apply online, visit a branch
