I opened a credit card many years before my husband and I even started dating so his name is not associated with it. I have been looking into doing a balance transfer so we can aggressively pay it off without interest (I know there is a balance transfer fee).

My question is, as a stay at home mom, will they look at my household income (ie my husband's) or do they look solely at mine? I don't want to apply to transfer and get denied and it affect my credit if they only look at mine.

    Thanks!

They usually let you include household income on applications, especially if you’re married. I did balance transfer couple years ago and the application specifically asked about household income, not just personal income. Just make sure you can reasonably access those funds for payments – that’s what matters to them.

Would recommend calling the card company first to ask about their specific requirements before applying though.

This is the exact reason you are allowed to report someone else’s income (your husband’s)
