What's the purpose of your next card? Travel perks, and ideally point redemption for either air travel or hotel (AI) stays.
Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Looks like I am going to be shoved into the Citi AAdvantage Globe ($350 AF!)
Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? What I had was working great for AA miles.
Hi all-
I am not sure what to do. I have been happy with my AAviator silver through Barclays. I have accumulated about $250K points through bonuses and spend. I tend to use these 1-3 times a year with my wife. We like to take vacations to an AI once a year, and maybe another usually domestic US vacation sometime each year. When it makes sense, I use the points for American Airlines, which is the major carrier in our market.
AA is transitioning the Barclays cards to a (IMHO) much inferior Citi card. I want to keep some AA card since I enjoy the free checked bags, free upgrades when available, and at least group 3 boarding and preferred status. I'd like to keep all of that if I can. But the new citi cards seem to take away a lot of benefits and the fee for "globe" anyway goes up to $350/yr.
I hardly use the IHG card anymore and am thinking of killing it, I burned all my points last year and could close it this year anytime before October (aniversary date).
Newly we stayed at a Secrets resort and loved it. I am planning to try out at least 2-3 more Hayatt AI properties over the next couple of years. From what I read until recently the Chase Saphire Reserve was a great card for Hayatt points value, but that may be less valuable now with Hayatt rejiggering rewards.
I want to reduce my annual sped on card annual fees. IHG can go. What do I do about the AA Barclays/Citi card conundrum?
If I were to CANCEL Barclays today, and apply for a Citi card (the next tier down maybe) with the 65K reward point offer from the last flight I took, would that be a decent deal? Will they allow it? Or do I let it transfer then cancel it?
I am not a churner so bear with me please….
Rejigger my cc selections after AA/Barclays change, and newfound love of Hayatt AI properties
