I was reading through the Global Energy Review 2026 report by the IEA earlier today and this chart really stood out to me. If all goes well, this year we should have another coal decline and probably a natural gas decline too, with the increase in battery installations allowing more and more solar to be integrated. With the increased pace of electrification, the peak in emissions from the electricity sector should soon be followed by the peak of overall energy emissions, cannot wait for the fossil fuel lobby to go extinct.
