My mom is selling her house in a hot market in NY. It was listed last week and there were several showings during the week. Saturday there was an open house and more than 50 people came (obviously many were nosey neighbors). By Sunday night she had two good offers, including an all cash offer. She told her realtor that she wanted to accept the all cash offer.
Today I was talking to her about it and pressing for more details, like contingencies, how much the deposit is etc. She couldn't answer my questions and it turns out she hasn't seen or signed an offer yet. This has all just been texts and phone calls with her realtor. The house is also still listed as for sale online.
I know that there is an attorney review period, but I thought that started after an offer was signed? I'm confused about what could be going on. She's an older widow so I worry about her being taken advantage of in some way. She seems to think that this will be an easy done deal, but shouldn't she have seen something in writing and signed something by now?
What's going on with my mom's house sale (NY)?
