Quitting Job with Sallie Mae loans

I'm just wondering what's the worse that could happen if I quit my job to be a stay at home mom and stop making my payments? My cosigner was my father and he passed away with an insolvent estate so they can't get anything from him. I won't have a new job or receive any government assistance for them to garnish (will just be living off of my husband's income). I'm willing to accept my credit being absolutely ruined because being home with my children is much more important to me. I've been making payments consistently for a decade and still owe about $49,000.
