I was surprised to know that 40M Americans are on SNAP Benefits, and the majority of them are working.
It seems to me that the former scenario is much more efficient and humane, but we continue to allow for workers to get paid poorly. Is this an anomaly in an industrialized nation?*
How much could we save in not having to pay the taxes associated with SNAP if employers simply paid their employees more for lower-end jobs?
What is more efficient for the economy: Paying workers more so that the majority of the 40M on SNAP Benefits don't have to be on SNAP Benefits, or paying the workers the status quo wages and have 40M of them continue with SNAP Benefits?
