I’m starting to get annoyed by this IHG Premier card.

Yesterday, I tried to buy a gift card from Amazon for my sister’s wedding (I know, gift card purchase, probably considered high risk) and it was declined by Chase. I confirmed via the Chase app it was legit.

This morning, I tried to buy another gift card from Amazon, it was again declined.

Why didn’t Chase learn from yesterday that it was a false alarm? This is on top of twice getting declined at my local grocery store for $5 purchases.

Not sure if this matters, but I have/had 3 other Chase credit cards, including the IHG Business credit card that I’ve used extensively, including in Europe and Asia without ever triggering a declined transaction.

Now that I’ve met the SUB requirement (with a single $4000 purchase that went through the first time, no less), I might just shelve it for how hard they’re trying to protect it from myself.

ETA: If I remember correctly, Amex remembers when there’a a false alarm and won’t decline the same card for a similar transaction again. Is the Chase fraud detection system “dumb” as in it won’t learn from past declines?
