I live in a condo in LA and recently, I was backing out of the garage and accidentally bumped the parked car behind me. I called the owner of the car (who obviously also lives in my building) and gave him my insurance info so he can file a claim. There was no one in the car so there was no injury and the damage was minimal, but the car I hit is an expensive car. Today I received a call from my insurance company saying that the other car owner’s attorney is asking for my policy limits and that GEICO needs my permission to disclose that info. Why would they want to know my limits when this appears to be a very straightforward case? Is there any reason I should or should not allow the attorney to know this info?
