I'm hoping to lower my insurance costs by trying out Liberty Mutual's Right Track app, but I have a few questions.

    • This app cannot RAISE my rates, only lower them, correct? I understand that it starts out at a 10% discount and you can lose that if you drive poorly, but it's not going to end up worse than had I not tried the app out at all.

    • Can you redo the 3-month period later down the road to try to improve your score if you aren't satisfied with it?

    • I pretty much have to drive between 3-5pm because that's when I get off work. I've read that doing so will hurt your score. My drive is pretty short (~15 minutes) and not really in traffic so I'm hoping it's not too bad, but would this make it difficult to get any savings assuming I do well otherwise?

    • I've also read that it really dings you for phone activity even if you aren't doing anything with your phone due to incoming notifications. Some have said putting it into DnD works, but others say it doesn't help. Also I've read conflicting stories about using hands-free methods and Carplay dinging your score as well. Some have recommended basically getting a burner phone to put the app onto during the 3-month period. Does anyone have any experience with this aspect of the app?

    • How does it know if you are a passenger? I've got a trip coming up and I assume 1 ride in a cab will destroy my score if it thinks I'm driving.

    Thank you!!
