2 Card Combo: Chase Preferred + Venture

Trying to reset and get the right cards to maximize points towards flights, etc.

New to the game. I’ve had the Sapphire Preferred which I like for dining and travel and streaming subs.

My other card to date had been a cash back as catch all, but felt I was losing out on potential miles.

Just got the Venture as catch all with its 2x miles, but know some prefer the Venture X. I may upgrade to that in future.

Thoughts? Upgrade immediately to Venture X? Amex Plat seemed silly, Amex Gold was also in contention.
