Blocked from purchasing “game” and video game” related products with Aven Rewards card

I was attempting to pay for an online order with my Aven Rewards card, and it kept getting blocked. "Purchases at this category of merchant have been blocked" was the error message I received via push notification.

I finally spoke with an rep who called me back (they did not open at their stated time today, and did not answer the phone), and the rep stated that AVen cards cannot be used to purchase "games" or "video games" from online stores they have determined sell games. The item I was buying was not a game.

I asked if this would happen even if I purchased another non-game product from the same store and they said "yes."

So, I expressed my frustration and asked where in their Terms & Conditions or card member guidelines these restrictions are stated so I could reference them. Surprise, they're not listed anywhere.

A lot of apologies and inaction followed. Rep said they cannot unblock the transaction.

Just wanted others to be aware. This is a lame restriction that they probably won't publicize, because why apply for or choose an Aven card when there are random unstated restrictions on what you can actually buy with the card?

Used my Capital One Quicksilver card to pau instead, without issue.
