Working as a case manager. Going back to school now for my degree to advance. I’m a student starting my BSW hopefully accelerated MSW with Walden. Completely online. Located in FL. Kind of was mislead that I could get the discount for working with government programs/VA and or alumni discounts. I wasn’t asked for any info until last week. I’ve been approved and everything set to enroll since early April. I was referred by someone I thought was alumni but she’s in her last class of her PhD so it doesn’t count. Of course that wasn’t told up front. Looks like the va discount won’t apply because technically I work for a nonprofit funded by the va.. so none of their perks. How awesome that no one explained up front when I asked repeatedly.
I’m scared about the amount of student loans and cost this is coming to. I’d like to try to get any reductions as possible. I am just above Pell assistance.. $0 Pell fml .. and I get nothing but student loans. Perks of being considered finally as a independent I guess..
I
Any advice or alumni willing help.. would be appreciated.
If this isn’t allowed please tell me I’m new. I didn’t see anything in the rules against it. I just need some pointers if anything.. my job doesn’t do any tuition help.. and it seems like PSLF is becoming an imaginary thing with changes pending.
Thanks.
Any Walden alumni? How do you guys actually afford student loans in nonprofit world?
