Fuel cells seem to be gaining momentum again, especially for heavy-duty transport and backup power systems.
A lot of countries are investing in hydrogen infrastructure now, and companies like Toyota, Hyundai, Plug Power, and Bloom Energy are pushing new fuel cell projects for trucks, utilities, and industrial power.
What’s interesting is that fuel cells may work better than batteries in some areas like:
- long-haul trucking
- shipping
- industrial backup systems
- grid-scale energy support
But the infrastructure problem still looks massive, especially around hydrogen production and refueling.
Do you think hydrogen fuel cells actually have a future, or will battery technology end up dominating most of these sectors anyway?
