Will car insurance help me if no one else was harmed?

Location : Illinois USA

I basically scrated the side of my car will getting out of a parkign lot with a lot. Only thing is a dent next to the gas tank and the black panel thing got off above the tire. But I have heard insurance will go up if I report this to them which makes me wonder what are their benefits if they will only increase their prices for an incident that didn't cause anyone harm
