My car met with an accident and water submersion in July 2025. I gave it to ICICI Lombard network garage under a cashless claim.
Now more than 9 months have passed and the car is still not repaired properly.
Since my car is more than 10 years old, they asked me to pay around 50% of a repair bill of nearly 1 lakh. Later another bill of around 77k was raised for the same accident. I already paid a large amount from my pocket even though it was a cashless claim.
Insurance company rejected important parts like switch, ECM, steering assembly, silencer, odometer, engine oil, labour charges etc. saying “not covered” or “non-correlation”.
But they never shared:
- exact policy clauses,
- proper technical reason,
- or survey report.
My question is:
If these important parts and ECM are not covered, then how is the vehicle supposed to become usable again after water damage?
Worst part:
- claim marked closed even though car is not usable,
- engine and electrical issues still there,
- poor repair quality , poor repair quality, the garage called me multiple times for vehicle delivery but the car still had issues and the engine stopped working, self start not working.
- mostly template replies from support and IRDAI complaint process.
Now thinking about Consumer Court.
Has anyone faced something similar with ICICI Lombard?
Is it common to practice of iinsurance compant like ICICI.
Any advice?
