Timing Allocation Change question

Question as the majority of our money is in vtsax which tracks the u.s. stock market. Today I wanted to allocate 20% into vigix which tracks large cap growth. My question is when this trade takes place I’m assuming it’s sold at closing bell and the rebought at same time at closing bell????

Is that how it works?

Or will the purchase be the following day at bell?
