My son buys a car from a relative of a friend who lives in the next state. He did not know it had a lien. When confronted the seller said give me some time and I will keep making payments and when paid off I will send you the title. He never did and the car is in default and the car is on my property. We do not want to try to recover the $1,000 paid or try to pay off the lien. Would calling the lien holder get us in trouble. We thought of transporting to the seller and dropping it off but for all I know it may be considered stolen and transporting it may be unwise. Any thoughts. Thought about contacting a towing company they seem to know the laws on these things.

How to get rid of it.
