The World Economic Forum’s Ashley Lannquist lead a panel on the application of blockchain technology for social impact at UBRI Connect 2019. On stage with her were two students who developed unique research for implementing the technology to benefit society.

Angela Cordoba is a recent LLM graduate of UC Berkeley’s law program who now works for Columbia’s Central Bank and Nisreen Bahrainwalla is a computer science student from the University of Michigan.

Angela’s project was examined how smart contracts could solve the problems with land registration for displaced people in Columbia. Nisreen’s project looked at the application for blockchain to track opioid prescriptions to alleviate the opioid crisis in the United States.
