The thing about Web 3 gaming is that you'll never see a single gamer support it. It's all non gamers telling the gaming community they're gonna love it. They don't want it, they hate it, and for a very good reason. As a crypto person that's been knee deep in gaming communities, let me explain this to you non-gamers out there.

The gaming industry has been heavily corrupted and some would argue, ruined, over the course of the past 10 years due to corporate greed attempting to draw profit as a first priority, and from every aspect of a game. Many games are no longer built to be fun, but for addiction, they're like bait on a fish hook, they promise you fun, but they are really an infinite treadmill designed to keep you coming back hoping to find fun that isn't there. You pour money into them in order to eke enjoyment from them in small increments. The gaming industry has just recently come off a 5 year battle with thinly-veiled gambling: companies like EA, Activison, and Ubisoft were selling randomized content to gamers, hoping they'd spend more than intended to get the things they actually wanted.

Games made by passionate people who want to create a fun experience are what turned gaming into what it is, but now, corporate parasites are on the back of the industry. We went from "heck yeah I love how this grappling hook feels" to focus-grouping experiences and using words like "dynamic setpiece" and "engagement metrics."

I believe in Web 3 gaming because it can give players back ownership and immutability of their own content, their own user profiles, and their own time spent playing, but gamers will not tolerate hyper monetization, and those projects do not succeed.

TLDR: and you absolutely cannot understand how huge and critically important this is: games that are made for profit first and fun second, NEVER succeed long term, so if you're going to invest in gaming, invest in a game that is successful first and later turns to NFTs for the benefit of its players, not a game that initially fails and turns to NFTs out of desperation

My biggest worry is that the US will switch fully to CBDCs, resulting in employers paying employees with said CBDC. At that point the government could regulate what you can and cannot buy using said CBDC including blocking the ability to buy BTC or other cryptos leaving people stuck with using CBDCs. Just a thought.
