That Broadway ticket example sounds like every Go Fund Me campaign is peddling a security b/c you’re funding in the hope of the product coming to market yet once it’s in production it’s a product and not a security. Seems like the SEC needs to close down GFM….
Jay Clayton has no integrity. What he says should be seen as “for the Banks!” Same as Gensler. They are producing what I have termed for years as “weasel wording”. Done to distort the true meaning and promote misunderstanding to cause a problem that requires a lawyer! That’s why lawyers get their bad name. Not all do this, just folks like Bill Clinton, Bill Hinman, Jay Powell, Obama, … I think you get my point. I’m hopeful that Judge Torres finds a clear determination.
Ethereum is like the Shubert Theatre in NY, many plays are done there and have different show producers that have nothing to do with one another ( like projects built on ETH ) and they compete with one another in hopes in producing a better show that has better ROI. So the show/play is like a project on ETH, and ETH is the Shubert Theatre with the means to allow producers to create a show using the Shubert Theatre's facility, staging etc. Also if Shady Clayton believes this then all film financing/investing is a security too. One thing is sure. Bitcoin is not a security. Even uncle Gary says that. So that should tell you everything you need to know. I want a digital asset for one thing. Storing value. I don’t need anything else. So I don’t need 10k coins trying to solve a problem that Bitcoin already solved. They are only distracting people from the mission at hand. A decentralized money that no government can control or print more of. People that cant see that are the problem. I still think people should be able to gamble or “invest” their money how ever they want though, but I think people should realize that we are in a financial revolution and should want to be part of the solution.
We buy it to realize an increased return. It's a security plain and simple. Stop freaking out!

3:30 The Broadway ticket has utility and, potentially, investment value if the retail price of the ticket is higher than the value was at issuance, before the play was produced. Early investors in the play could sell their tickets on the secondary market, at a profit. Ditto for Etherium (which is an ongoing "Broadway show", to complete the analogy), especially since unlike the broadway show, the Etherium show isn't even completed yet – plans for new features and developments are constantly being announced by the founders/company. Hence, you are investing money in a common enterprise with the expectation of profit from the work of others.
I think this is where Jay Clayton is going with his comparison.

Starting early is the best way of getting ahead to build wealth, investing remains a priority. Even in a downtrend, the stock market/crypto has plenty of opportunities to earn a decent payout, with the right skills and proper understanding of how the market works.
Dan, TRADFI consumes more electricity than DEFI. It is obvious, traditional financial systems have building maintenance, utility, accountants and personnel in various departments who commute to work, consume food and fuel to provide financial services that is limited to banking hours. It's IT Department requires constant software updates, hardware replacement, patches, fixes, and a team of people to maintain it. We haven't even touched on an HR Department, legal, execs, and etc. Crypto energy consumption pales in comparison to traditional financial system.
