How tokenization will change everything | Guillermo Alda | TEDxPrague British Intl School Youth

many people don’t remember but the
beginnings of the internet were far from
Easy it was this super complex
    technology developed by the US
    government and a few American
universities and eventually it took off
and everybody wanted to have a do page
it’s called the Doom bubble and it was
it was a bubble and it was bust because
there was not yet a real
utility and I remember perfectly in the
in in those days watching the news and
    saying all
these presenters Hey Joe what is this
thing about the internet uh Mike I don’t
know I mean why would I want to see the
news in this big computer I I have at
home or why should send a message to to
my friend I can just call him right yeah
nah I’ll pass were they wrong right
    internet has profoundly changed our
    society internet has democratized
information uh it has made actually
    information horizontal everybody has
access to any piece of information we
can send receive and consume any piece
of information anywhere anytime but that
was not like that and it just so happens
that when it comes to moving value
anything of value we are in a preil era
and by value I mean any asset any let’s
just say the simplest form sending money
for example can you imagine that you
would send an email to your friend and
if he or she lives in the same country
he gets it immediately but if he happens
to live in another country you get that
email two three days even a week later
    well that’s actually what’s happening
today with anything of value uh it’s a
when you scratch the surface when you
send value to other person or party it’s
a super old anacronic system where banks
have to talk to each other and it takes
forever and transactions are settled in
a very super complex way and this is
actually how the world economy works
right now Based On A system that is not
only few decades old but it’s even I
would say a thousand year old there was
this system called haala in the Middle
East like literally 1,000 years ago when
it was very dangerous to carry things of
value in this desert and and if instead
of having to carry it you would go to a
broker in your village and he would see
your let’s say was 10 sheeps he would
give you a receipt you will carry that
receipt you walk that dangerous desert
and you go to the next Village and he
you will show him the receipt and he
will give you those 10 ships back and
this is actually how Banks and how
transaction globally are done now and of
course course we’re going digital and
that’s going to change and the change
for that the solution for that is
    blockchain blockchain is the underlying
technology the same way as Internet it
was called TCP IP protocol here it’s a
    blockchain and tokenization it’s going
    to change absolutely everything because
    tokenization is having a digital
representation like a digital twin of
anything it’s like a contract you have
to think a token like a like a contact
like a contract imagine you own I don’t
know a phone a car a house and that
ownership those rights this breed in in
in a contract or in a or in an invoice
or receipt that is programmed it’s a
piece of code that is uploaded to a
    blockchain it’s this unbelievable
    technology super secure almost
    impossible to hack uh instant
    transparent all the transaction are
freely available to see for everybody
always and things are settled instantly
so think about how the world is going to
change use with this kind of advancement
for example um in real estate let’s just
to give an example if you want to invest
in real estate which is uh very common
everybody knows it’s a Time proven asset
It Go appreciates in time it’s very safe
but it takes a lot of initial Capital
you need to invest let’s say1 million
EUR in one house but imagine the
property was stocken IED what does it
mean it’s St into tokens and there would
be 1 million tokens worth one Euro each
token and they’re digital it means that
even if you uh wanted to buy or invest
in the hold property you may just think
okay I will just invest in a fraction so
    tokenization allows for
    fractionalization of assets which is
absolutely game-changing now uh we could
invest a here a little bit on this
property on a second property on a third
property or you like gold you like wine
you can invest in owning the your
favorite artist everything is going to
be tokenized in in in this new economy
    and I find it absolutely
fascinating uh because it’s like one in
    a 100 150 years
    opportunity and there’s a huge
difference this time and it’s that for
the first time in history you everybody
can participate on it and can own it and
can build on it so the same way we could
not even begin to imagine when the
internet appeared that we I could have
this on my pocket and I could click a
button and a driver would be waiting for
me outside with actually his own car and
he’s actually making a living out of it
or uh Netflix that we can consume any
anything any moment before there was
block Busters and nobody could ever
think the Blockbusters would go bust and
the same way we cannot even imagine how
how new use cases are going to appear
and it’s up to all of us to construct it
and I hope you take the opportunity so
    thank you very much
