Litecoin (LTC) is one of the most undervalued cryptocurrencies in existence today. Litecoin is often referred to as the Silver to Bitcoin’s Gold and is one of the earliest Altcoins.
Litecoin is one of the most supported and most utilized cryptocurrencies in existence, which has proven itself to be a reliable and secure form of currency.
WHAT IS LITECOIN? – 3:28
If you’re going to invest your money into Litecoin or any other crypto then you at least need a high-level understanding it.
Litecoin was created in October 2011 by Charlie Lee, who released Litecoin on Oct. 7th, 2011 via an open-source client on GitHub. Litecoin emerged as a fork from Bitcoin and was modeled after the core of Bitcoin code.
Coinbase listed Litecoin in 2017 as it’s 3rd fully supported crypto. Charlie Lee was the director of Engineering at Coinbase for nearly 4 years before leaving to focus fully on Litecoin.
PAYPAL ADDS LITECOIN – 8:11
In October of 2020, PayPal added support for Litecoin which means that its nearly 350 million US customers can now buy and sell Litecoin on PayPal.
While you cannot currently use crypto as a way to pay or send money on PayPal, that’s definitely their future intention with Crypto and something that I believe will happen in 2021.
CARDANO & LITECOIN PARTNERSHIP – 9:38
Charles Hoskinson and Charlie Lee have been discussing the idea of interoperability between Cardano and Litecoin.
This partnership has the potential to unlock new features such as cross-chain communications and improved scalability as the first Blockchain that Cardano can interact with.
Cardano has one of the biggest upsides in the crypto space. I’m definitely excited for a continued partnership between Litecoin and Cardano.
LITECOIN GRAYSCALE TRUST – 11:19
The Grayscale Litecoin Trust is doing very well and in January, Charlie Lee stated that $173 million LTC are locked in the Grayscale Litecoin Trust, representing almost 2% of all Litecoin in existence.
Grayscale added 174,000 tokens to its Litecoin holdings last month. This haul pushed its total holdings of the altcoin to 1.44 million.
The total value of Grayscale’s holdings of LTC is now just over $248 million.
MIMBLEWIMBLE PRIVACY FEATURES – 11:53
Litecoin is getting a major privacy upgrade in the coming months to give it “fungibility”, where one coin is indistinguishable for another.
Charlie Lee believes it’s going to be a major selling point for LTC, since it would become the only top 10 cryptocurrency by marketcap with privacy features.
