Germans messure fuel consumption in how much fuel the car needs for 100 km.
For example if a car needs 12 Liter for 100 km it´s around 20 miles per US gallon.
Gasstations at the Autobahn are more expensive. Major Brands like Shell, Aral or DEA are more expensive like JET, Total or smal brands.
Most Gasstation staff can understands and speak basic english.

Driving highspeed consumes much more fuel than go 65, keep that in mind.
City speedlimit is 50 km/h or 30 miles per hour
outside City it´s up to 100 km/h 60 miles per hour when no sign Shows another speedlimit like 70km/h or 80km/h 50 miles/h.
Recomended Speed on the Autobahn is 130 km/h so around 80 miles per hour but when there is no speedlimit you can go as fast as you like when road conditions and traffic density allows it.
Left lane is the fast lane, you should not go faster on the Right lane and you should not block the fast left lane when faster cars are behind you.
Trucks drive on the Right with around 50 miles per hour / 80 km/h. Be carefull, drive safe, check your speed before you exit, you can get used to highspeed and forget how fast you are…
Enjoy you time in Germany !
