SOT, Christian Erb, Resident and communal level politician of Sassnitz (German): “I think, firstly it is a business, that two states committed to, the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany. That this touches international relations is the nature of the thing and everyone would like to sell his product to its best possibility, no matter if it’s gas, oil, a bag of rice or beans. You should let those contract partners act as they have agreed on. And I think, the meddling especially of the USA is greatly excessive.”

SOT, Christian Erb, Resident and communal level politician of Sassnitz (German): “The spark was there, it has been slowed down momentarily, and I hope, that with the support from the federal government this issue will calm down and this technical enterprise, which already costs a lot of money so far, is finished successfully. I think this is essential.”

SOT, Christian Erb, Resident and communal level politician of Sassnitz (German): “I wish for the same, not only that the politicians will act with a certain a sense of proportion, so that this can be finished.”

SOT, Frank Richter, Part time resident and Sassnitz business owner (German): “I think this is horrible, also for the region. I would say this should be seen positively for everyone, and it is close to the finish line, there is not much left to do. And that is why I think it (the sanctions) is bollocks and I hope, that maybe with the election of the new [US] president [Joe] Biden, I believe it will become better and that we won’t have sanctions for Sassnitz or such things, because it is just bollocks to threaten us with such sanctions.”
