Dec.18 — Planned U.S. sanctions are unlikely to have a major effect on the controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Chancellor Angela Merkel‘s trans-Atlantic coordinator said. “It’s bad for the companies involved, but I don’t see that it’s going to stop the pipeline project,” Peter Beyer, a senior lawmaker in Merkel’s Christian Democratic-led bloc, said in an interview in Berlin on “Bloomberg Markets: European Open.”
