The giant container ship MV Ever Given was partially refloated in the early morning on March 29, 2021, after becoming lodged diagonally across Egypt’s Suez Canal six days ago. The 400-metre-long vessel halted traffic on the shortest shipping route between Europe and Asia. An estimated US$9.6 billion worth of trade along the waterway has been held up each day.
