M2RES is a project co-funded by the European Union through the Programme “South-East Europe 2007-2013”.

The goal is to recover marginal areas (landfills, quarries, open cast mines, former military areas, contaminated sites, etc.) through investmens in renewable energy sources (photovoltaic, wind, biomass, geothermal, biogas, etc.).
The project shows the participation of many partners from the European Union (Italy, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria) and from countries involved in the pre-accession process (Montenegro, Serbia, Albania), and includes relevant public actors with complementary interests: national and regional agencies for energy, research centres, the system of Chambers of Commerce, banks.
M2RES wants to give impetus to the sustainable development of the European Union, generating economic and social value for areas which suer for marginality, having lost their primary functions. The turning key will be to change them into platforms for the production of renewable energy.
