Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg defended his company’s proposed cryptocurrency, libra, before House lawmakers on Oct 23. In his opening statement to the House Financial Services committee, Zuckerberg admitted that he wasn’t sure that his proposed libra cryptocurrency would work. “But I believe that it’s important to try new things,” Zuckerberg said, testifying that the system would give more than a billion people without mobile phones access to a bank account.
