US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said ‘it was too late’ to stop the completion of Nord Stream 2, as he testified before US Senate on Tuesday in Washington DC.
Blinken argued that it was ‘too late’ to stop the completion of Nord Stream 2, following President Joe Biden administration’s decision last month to not enforce sanctions against the builder of Nord Stream 2.
Nord Stream 2 will bypass Ukraine, resulting in Ukraine potentially losing out on transit fees.
Blinken added that the US is engaging with Germany to mitigate the ‘negative consequences’ of the pipeline.
