‘Worst hack in history’ as $1.5bn in cryptocurrency stolen

    Hackers have stolen $1.5 billion (£1.19 billion) in digital currency, potentially marking the largest cryptocurrency heist in history.

    The Dubai-based Bybit exchange reported that an attacker gained access to an Ethereum wallet and transferred its contents to an unknown address.

    The firm, which has more than 60 million users worldwide, said no other wallets were affected and withdrawals were proceeding normally.

    1. "hacked"… remember, not your keys, not your crypto… Love how this article and hack has come mere hours after ECB said they would be using the blockchain as the backbone to the new financial system. The banks are running scared, the last comment says it all "your money is not as safe as it is in a bank"… yea, that was also true in 2008!

    2. And they say distributed ledger technology means the location of every bitcoin is known, it's on the ledger. Then how can it be stolen and not retrieved. If your hard earned is not safe from criminals it's not safe from government either.
