    1. The EU β€œscrewed” their energy and economic development future by following the U.S. and sanctioning Russian energy.

They will continue to deindustrialize with industry moving to the US and China. Their leadership is incompetent.

Russian energy was the ONLY reason that kept EU energy prices low. Even though the EU CONTINUES TO BUY LARGE QUANTITIES OF RUSSIAN OIL AND GAS (even when when they say they do not), the prices will never come down to make the EU competitive with the rest of the world.

There simply is NO cheap energy available to them.

They cannot build cost-effective wind, solar, and nuclear because China owns the best competitive pricing, IP, tech, supply chains, etc.

Possibly by the turn of the century EU can claw themselves out of their rabbit hole.

At this point they are doomed…

    2. Finally, someone mentioning the obvious after years… More energy and military independance, as well as food and water are a MUST of any nation, much less an organization the size of the EU.

edit: This is not even mentioning the diplomatic relevancy that such would bring, it would make the EU a FAR more attractive target for investment, alliances, and for integration.

    3. Speaking of Nuclear energy, am I just too naive to think that It would be worth to consider sending the nuclear waste into the sun once in a while . These trips could be accompanied by collecting data about the Sun to support the development of Fusion Reactors to compensate the costs (= it would be an investment into the research at the same time).
