Interestingly, in a world where AI analyses every financial decision and has an instant impact on the stock market, that particular decision will take more than a month to hit US shelves: ships that were not filled with goods because American importers didn’t want to deal with the extra tarrif didn’t leave ten days ago, and will not be missed in LA until three weeks from now. It will take another week for them not to show up in Austin or New York. And then, things will feel a lot more bare and a lot more expensive.
If people start protesting then and it takes them a few weeks to pass the message, vote for change, that could be an extra month of extreme discontent. And then, it will take one more month to get good back on track.
That 71% is the lowest this number will be in months.

71% don’t have economic degrees to comment on how tariffs will affect prices….i would say more than half didn’t finish high school.
no one really knows the effect until we can see what the real tariff rate is. Once one county makes a deal alot more will follow. What we do know is that China is screwed….every major company American EU middle eastern is diversifying away from China. They may have the cheapest supply chain but throw in ip theft, corruption, and geo politics and it’s not the best deal any more…without supply chain income china won’t have much ..

Tariffs are a useful tool in any country’s economic toolbox that have been applied since the US was founded.
The current manner of tariff application (apparently by the whims of one uninformed individual representing the entire country), is just the application of a childish solution to an adult problem.
Trump the individual has repeated public statements that make it clear he does not know the difference between tax and tariff, or debt and trade. He lies incessantly so maybe he is just playing dumb for his people – probably not – regardless, neither answer is good.
Trump the admin is comprised of yes men who state that tariffs will bring back manufacturing to the US because foreign goods will become so unaffordable to average US consumers that, US businesses will have no choice but to build new plants in house.
The yes men have previously made statements that made it clear that they do understand how tariffs work but they now refuse to say dear leader is wrong. They failed to model base case and downside global trade reactions for study and didn’t even provide a projection for their much talked about upside. The result has been an embarrassing rollercoaster of stupidity marked by wild swings in markets and dollar valuations.
So far, we have seen only incompetence with repeated attempts to cover up the obvious stupidity with propaganda from favorable media outlets. What a waste for the US.
