Gas prices in the European Union and the UK have risen sharply – by 25 percent in early trading – causing fears of soaring bills and inflation as winter approaches.
    Prices have risen to the highest level in more than a decade, and consumers are beginning to worry about the costs of heating homes during the coming winter.
    Economies around Europe are climbing out of the COVID-19-induced slump and demand for natural gas is increasing, but politics between the EU and Russia may have fettered supply.
