Robinhood is on a mission to democratize finance for all. It’s a financial services company that is most known for pioneering commission-free trades of stocks, exchanged-traded funds and even cryptocurrencies all from the convenience of investors’ phones.
Since its creation back in 2013, it’s been making investing much easier even for the layman.
With its massive accessibility and vast user base, it offers a lot of exposure for aspiring tokens that want to enter the mainstream when it comes to trading.
As of September 2021, Robinhood has announced its latest expansion in the crypto space. According to its announcement, the trading platform is debuting a feature that allows traders to have more control over their tokens.
In short, the brokerage is testing “crypto wallets” with its select clients starting October – this month – where crypto investors can trade, send, and receive digital currencies and even move them in and out of their Robinhood app.
According the Robinhood’s chief product officer, Aparna Chennapragada, Robinhood is taking its time to make sure that they build this feature on the trading app in a phased approach, hence why they will start with only a few customers, have them review it, and get feedback so that they can grow and better their features for its users. They plan on sharing the feedback over its official blog and Twitter page before they roll out the feature to clients on a waitlist.
It’s worth noting that Robinhood is actually quite fairly new to the crypto trading game compared to other platforms like Binance and Coinbase. It’s only debuted crypto trading about three years ago but since its emergence on the platform, it’s grown to become increasingly important to the company’s top line,.
The goal here, aligned of course with what Robinhood has always been about, is to make crypto investing much simpler, more straightforward, and low cost enough to be accessible for many. When it first debuted crypto investing in its platform, it expanded people’s access to investing to more of its customers, in a mission to return power to the people and democratize finance.
With this exciting new development on Robinhood’s end, many are wondering: when will Shiba Inu come in to play around its ballpark? Will they finally list SHIB in its cryptocurrency trading feature?
