Well, It’s come to the point where I’m giving up my fave razor, the Mach 3.
I was shopping with my kid and I noticed $3.50 for 12 razors vs. $33.00 12 Mach 3’s
I’m honestly sad about it. I haven’t even shaved since I bought them and I’m usually an every other day guy.
Hopefully they don’t give me razor burn too bad. Any experience with cheap but quality razors for guys?

Cheap razors, a line I don’t want to cross

I switched to cheap razors, changed up my shaving style a bit, and haven’t gone back.

Old fashioned double edged safety rasors. Reusable handle costs $15, pack of 50 blades is $10.

    3. Dorco razors on Amazon are still not too bad — Dollar Shave Club used to just repackage Dorco stuff, IIRC. Dorco prices have gone up recently, but still cheaper than Gillette for a quality blade.

I still buy them for the family, but I switched to a safety razor — you can get 100 blades for nothing, and the supply lasts for years. There is a bloody learning curve, but it is worth the investment over time.

    4. Why not try a double edged safety razor? You don’t have to throw away plastic and the actual blades cost literal pennies. And the shave quality is the best I’ve tried. The razor seems expensive but I’ve had the same 30 dollar razor for almost a decade and the blades are so cheap I wouldn’t feel bad tossing them after one use (even if I use 2 or 3 times. You can also find a good razor for a couple bucks at an antique store if you don’t mind cleaning it.

    5. Second vote for using a safety razor. Buy one $10 handle and a year’s supply of blades for $10. Healthier for your skin and you’re not throwing more plastic in the trash.

Disposable razors are literally the worst option for shaving your face.

    6. I think it is so person dependent.

I use an electric razor now but when I did shave with a razor I bought the cheapest razors from the dollar store and used each one for months. A pack of six would last me a year. Single blade and cheap as fuck.

    7. I am a woman but this would apply to you, as well. Get a traditional safety razor (the ones made completely with metal that you loosen and tighten using a dial at the base).

You buy the shaver handle/razor holder once, and it will easily outlive you; pass it on to one of your kids. You then buy the double edge razor insert, which you can get like 100 of them for $10 (of course depends on the quality of razor you buy, I like Feather, Derby Premium and Wilkinson Sword) and they will last you a whole year, depending on how much you shave.

They are cheap to replace so you use the razor blade for 3-5 shaves and then toss it. So you always get an amazing smooth shave and nicks are rare after you learn how to use them.

Best of luck! I will never go back to cartridge razors that are BS ripoff and always have been.

    8. I stopped buying disposable razors due to waste and cost.

Invested in a quality double edge safety razor like my dad and grandfather used. You can get high quality stainless steel blades for very cheap cents/blade. I’d avoid Amazon unless you are buying direct from the manufacturer’s store. There are a lot of counterfeit blades out there.

I got a 100 pack of blades for like $20. I shave once a week, replace the blade once a month so that’ll last me 100 months or 8 years 😂

This is Reddit so you’re going to get a lot of safety razors/darn tough socks/bidet/mold/lead/asbestos, any time you ask a question.

I use Harry’s razors and I’ve been very satisfied with them. The heads are about $2 each at Costco or even less and each lasts me a month.

    10. I bought a straight blade 15 years ago and the thing shaves as good now as back then.

Also switch to shaving soap and a brush.
