Debt collectors have been calling me every day for the past month. I answered a couple weeks ago and informed them that I refuse to give any information over the phone or online and will only discuss anything after I receive it in writing.

The operator says "we've sent you letters in April, may, and June". But I never received any letters. My wife and I don't throw away any mail less than a year old unless it's coupons. We file it. I went through and verified I did not receive anything. She validated my address without me even asking.

After informing her that I need it in writing, she asks "Are you refusing to pay the debt" and I tell her that "I'm not discussing anything until I have it in writing'. She just said "I'll mark it in your file that now wasn't a good time" and hung up. It's been a couple weeks and I still haven't received a letter and they're still calling me every day. How should I go about this?

First and foremost, are they definitely calling for ***you***?

Second, do you have (to the best of your knowledge) actual debt?

How you approach this depends on how legitimate the problem is.
