I recently bought a portable washer (i live in a small apartment with no in-unit laundry). This has saved me about $30+ a month on laundry, not including my time.
I am considering buying reusable paper towels but I feel like it’s a waste of money when I could use old rags or something. I actually want a reusable paper towel set with a roll to look like actual paper towels but I’m not sure that’s worth spending $30 on or if it’s even worth the hassle of washing. Otherwise, I spend about $6 a month on paper towels which isn’t bad per se but I’d like to save money on things I’m gonna just throw away.
To those who use reusable paper towels, where do you keep the wet ones until you finished most of the reusable towels to wash together? Do you use them for cleaning up your home (spraying chemicals on them) or simply for drying your hands after washing them? Would you use them for wiping up cat urine?
How do you store reusable paper towels before there is enough to wash?

Old rags work just as well and cost nothing, just keep a small bin with a lid for the dirty ones until wash day. I’d skip paying $30 for the roll gimmick unless you really care about the look.
In a bag on my kitchen door. I use them for almost everything. Napkins, cleaning, drying dishes. I would not clean up anything super gross with them, I have old rags for that, or paper towels (I still keep some, but go through like 6 rolls a year, sometimes they are the best thing). Don’t pay more than about $1 a rage. they’re often at places like ross/kohl’s.
I have a small black plastic trash can from Ikea that I placed beside my actual larger kitchen trash can. The used towels goes in that black trash can. I try to wash whenever I can and usually along with bath mats or washable kitchen mats. Just a word of warning, if you leave the wet towels there long enough, it could start getting moldy.
12 years ago I bought a dozen Cannon 100% cotton washcloths. We have been using those instead of paper towels since. My wife still uses paper towels to dry her bacon, maybe three rolls a year.
