The concerning points are that it was below market, and that we actually don’t make a lot of deals like this, historically. Beyond that it is just a deviation from the anti-socialism that the party claims to be their unwavering philosophy.
You could argue that all those bailouts we have given in the form of loans should have been capital acquisitions instead, but nobody wanted to breach the veil of socialism before now, apparently. When I look to how it could work better I think of Japan, where the government owns some stake and also the large industries own stakes in each other.
